A squadron of Roman soldiers, garrisoned on the banks of the Nile, sets out into the heart of Africa in search of a mysterious civilization. After a grueling voyage, which takes them up the Nile and across central Africa, the legionnaires discover a veritable empire, complete with highly-developed arts, science, and technology — and unquestionably as powerful as the Roman Empire itself.
