Comics, strips, bandes dessinéestebeos and fumetti – they are all part of the truly international, transnational medium of graphic narratives. But what makes these European traditions, markets and creative scenes so diverse and distinctive? Five leading contemporary writers and artists from Belgium, Britain, France, Italy and Spain – Florence Cestac (The Midlife Crisis; The Post-Midlife Crisis), Pat Mills (2000AD), Sylvain Runberg (Drones; Conquests), Vanna Vinci (Casati) and Marcial Toledano (Ken Games; Tebori) – air their differences in a lively discussion about today’s comics cultures of Europe. The panel was organized as part of the London Book & Screen Week 2016 at Institut Français du Royaume-Uni (London). Moderated by Paul Gravett.
