Cédric Mayen

Scriptwriter

Cédric Mayen, born in France in 1984, became an avid reader at a young age, with a strong interest in comics. At age ten, he discovered an entirely new culture upon moving to Italy, where he remained through high school. After graduation he returned to France, settling in Lyon, where he studied the theatrical arts and began to write and direct short films. It was after that that he turned to comics, undertaking a master’s program at a Franco-Japanese school specialized in the 9th art. Just out of school, he published the first two volumes of the manga-influenced series ElementR (Vents d’ouest), and then his passion for traveling got the better of him. He spent time in Brazil, Japan, and the UK before finally returning to France. There, he settled back into the world of comics, publishing the acclaimed graphic novel Edelweiss in 2017 alongside Lucy Mazel. His most recent work includes the sorcery-infused series Sac-à-diable (Devil on Her Shoulder), created together with artist Sandra Cardona (Dargaud; Europe Comics in English).
