Zerocalcare was born in 1983 and for the longest time has illustrated posters for hardcore punk concerts and published stories on xeroxed fanzines, especially within the Roman occupied space scene. He has collaborated with magazines of all kinds (most of which have since been shut down). He is a regular feature in the annual indie anthology Sherwood Comix, collaborates with the Smemoranda planner, has a monthly comics column on Wired and his blog, is among the most viewed in Italy. His seven books have sold over a half million copies in four years, and Forget My Name was shortlisted for the 2015 Strega literary award. Kobane Calling, his memoir-reportage from the Turkish-Syrian border, has sold over a hundred thousand copies in Italy, and has been translated into several foreign languages, including French, Spanish, and English (published by Lion Forge).
